Meeting Time and Place: Kingston Ferry to Blackball Ferry Line.  See details below

Join us for a casual sightseeing bike ride out of Victoria B.C.   This ride is fairly flat, but rated Blue because of the distance: 30-60 miles per day.  Hybrid bikes are best but mountain or road bikes work.

Transportation: Carpool to the Edmonds/Kingston Ferry (runs almost hourly) than route to Port Angeles (1.5 hours). Then take the Coho Ferry from Port Angeles into Victoria Harbor. Reservations should be made about one month in advance either on-line or call the Blackball Ferry Line (800) 217-3517. Round trip rates are $89 for car and driver, plus $35 per passenger. Walk on rate is $35 per person plus $13 for bike. Crossing time is 90 minutes. Please arrive one hour early to allow for customs and pass-port checks. Sailings to are Victoria 12:45 PM, 5:20 PM and 9:30 PM; to Port Angeles 10:30 AM, 3PM and 7:30 PM.

Lodging: your preference, but availability becomes very limited as early as April.  There are many fine hotels and B&B’s near the harbor. Trip Advisor has an extensive list with reviews and ratings.  We like the Royal Scot but will be staying at Worldmark.   Last year we asked everyone to choose what suits them and it worked fine.  Just let us know, I'll keep a list and keep everyone informed.

Friday:  Breakfast 8:30 AM at the Shine Cafe--1320 Blanshard Street (250)595-2134.   We’ll bicycle to Sydney for lunch, with sightseeing and photo-ops along the way.  Distance is 64 miles RT with no hills.  Pace will be 10-12 mph.  Ride is rated Blue because of the distance. Route is the almost traffic free Lochside Regional Trail.  Dinner 7:00 PM in the Empress Hotel Bengal lounge.

Saturday: Breakfast 8:30 AM at the Jam Cafe--542 Herald Street (778) 440-4489.  Bicycle to Sook Pot Holes Park with a group picnic at Matheson Lake. Distance is about 58 miles on the traffic free Galloping Goose trail.  Pace and level of difficulty will be the same as Friday.  Dinner TBA.

Sunday:  Breakfast 8:30 AM at the Blue Fox Café -- 919 Fort Street (250) 380-1623 than independent sightseeing with lots of options including--the Royal BC Museum, Kayaking, Craigdarroach Castle, Bateman Art Center, Maritime Museum, Wildplay Element Park, Buchart Gardens....
